Bluetooth (HFP and A2DP) Adapter for Car Stereo

I got a really good deal on an older navigation system for my car and it came with a bluetooth adapter but it is defective. The product is several years old and the adapter is no longer made so I can't get a replacement from the manufacturer. I'm wondering if I can create a basic Bluetooth interface to hook into the A/V inputs of the stereo, basically RCA inputs. There are several adapters out there to do streaming audio, but few that do both HFP and A2DP and just hook into an A/V input.

I'm a total noob to Arduino but I've wanted to get into it for years now and figured this might be my chance. Is it possible to have an Arduino with a bluetooth shield with a mic input and RCA or 3.5mm audio output, powered by 12v DC?

Is there any progress? I need something similar
