Right now I have a water tight enclosure with cable glands on the outside that allows me to connect sensors into my PCB; however, it's a pain to route the wires into the terminal blocks through the cable glands. Ideally, I'd like to somehow connect the wires into the PCB, but perhaps externally without having to go through the cable glands. I attached a picture of my current project.
I've seen some enclosures that have connectors on the outside, but I think they are integrated directly into the PCB. I am currently cutting the enclosures by hand (using a stepper drill for the glands). Is there a way to externally connect my sensors to the PCB but still protect the bare wires? Thanks!
My advice is to keep everything inside the enclosure as you already have.
Yeah that's sound advice. I guess I can try a smaller cable gland and dedicate it to each terminal block. That might make it easier for me to route the wires.
Hi,
If you have the funds, try Deutsch connectors/plugs.
Among their products they have panel mounted weather proof sockets and plug combinations.
This connector is a line to line connector but it gives you the idea of its construction.
