Cannot begin compile for any board type on mac

Having difficulty compiling on a mac, issue appears straight forward, but...
New install of the IDE latest, setup for esp32 boards. I cannot get past go when compiling. Tried known working code on other boards like Mega or Uno, error is always the same as noted below:

loading hardware from /Users/ricke/Documents/Arduino/hardware: reading /Users/ricke/Documents/Arduino/hardware directory: open /Users/ricke/Documents/Arduino/hardware: operation not permitted

Error compiling for board Arduino Mega or Mega 2560

Has to be something basic?

Problem solved! Had to great file sharing permission on Documents folder to Arduino!
