Can''t upload to new Arduino NANO Every

My UNO and other NANO's work fine with IDE. This EVERY won't upload. I see no option to select the 4809 processor. Nor is the NANO showing up in the DEVICE manager. Green LED is on and the Yellow LED is flashing at about once per sec.

Problem uploading to board. See http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload for suggestions.

This report would have more information with
"Show verbose output during compilation"
option enabled in File -> Preferences.

I just removed the driver and attempted to install again. Windows said it was installing and looked fine. Device mgr still only showed the port as working (Port 6) but no NANO.

Despite the similar name, the Nano Every is very different from the classic Arduino Nano. You have the Arduino Nano selected from the Arduino IDE's Tools > Board menu, thus the failed upload.

If you haven't done so already, you first need to install the Arduino megaAVR boards platform that add support for the Nano Every to the Arduino IDE:

  • Tools > Board > Boards Manager
  • Wait for the download to finish.
  • From the list of available boards platforms, click on "Arduino megaAVR Boards".
  • Click the "Install" button.
  • Wait for the installation to finish.
  • Click the "Close" button.

Now that you have the platform installed, you only need to select the right board:
Tools > Board > Arduino megaAVR Boards > Arduino Nano Every
and then try uploading again.

 Excellent thanks much ! Works great. I looked through the forums and on the main Arduino troubleshooting and never fond this. It seems simple now, but where did I miss this ?

You're welcome. I'm glad to hear it's working now.

It's documented on the "Getting Started" page of the Nano Every:
