Yes, but do not expect to draw more than 1 ampere per motor winding.
Are you confusing amps with ampere-hours? The first is a unit of current, the second of charge (ie
battery capacity). They are different things.

The L298N usually needs to be connected to a power supply. And usually, that power suppy needs to be able to keep supplying energy to the L298N.
If the power supply is a battery, then you need to ensure that the battery contains enough electrical charge (aka high enough energy storage capacity) in order to allow the L298N (and motor that is usually connected) to keep working. Otherwise, not enough energy storage in the battery will quickly put the L298N out of action.
