Will this project ever be implemented in actual hardware?

That's very convenient but nothing you posted suggests that. The time to present an idea is BEFORE someone else does. The idea may have occurred to you , but you didn't say anything about it or ask us so we have to assume you didn't think of it. (hindsight is always 20/20). Look at it this way, if you were working in a job and your boss asks you "Why don't you do such and such ?"
and you reply "Oh , yeah, I was actually going to do that !", do you REALLY think he is going to believe you , or is he more likely to think that you are simply agreeing with HIS idea ? Here on the forum it is not uncommon for a poster to respond similarly to our suggestions so we tend not believe them. Only you know if you actually thought of it. Next time speak up , but if you don't , try to refrain from saying "Oh yeah, I actually thought of that " because it tends to be hard to believe. Just a word of advice.

No diodes across the motors, gonna see voltage spikes when the relay changes that could smoke the transistors.
