The world wonders.
Hi @dougp. At the time of creation, all posts are automatically set to be closed to new replies if six months should pass without any new replies in the topic.
Pinning a topic doesn't disable that auto-close configuration. However, we are able to manually disable it as is appropriate. I have done so for that topic.
Conversely, the authors of some pinned topics have explicitly requested the manual closure of their topic, since it was intended to serve as a reference rather than as a discussion thread (forum members are always welcome to create a separate topic for that purpose).
If you see any closed pinned topics that you believe should be exempted from the automatic closure system, just raise a flag on the topic with a "Something else" reason and the moderators will take a look.
Thanks!
And....
If you want a closed topic to be opened then do please flag it and ask a moderator to open it for you.
