Documentary on Electronics in Australia

While not totally about Arduino, I have recently created a documentary about the electronics Industry in Australia including a great deal about the hobbyist side of the business. I did use an Arduino to control a rotating platform for the spinning components in the documentary while I was filming and thought that some of you might be interested. The Trailer for it is in the link below:

The documentary deals with increasing pressures on the industry, the decline in numbers etc but also looks at Hackerspaces, a section talks about the effects of open source projects like Arduino. Other topics deal with the History of entrepreneurs, how electronics was and is marketed, SMD devices and the impact on learning etc etc. Feel free to spin by my blog as well which has a bit more of a run down on the project

So where's this documentary going to be aired? Looks interesting from that trailer.

Will there be some online version available? Obviously I can't normally watch Australian TV

There definitely will be an online version - probably in smaller chunks to make it easier for people to watch. My estimation is 2 hours approximately in the final form but exactly how the online version will look is something I'm working on. Currently the doco is looking for distribution on traditional media. I have a couple more interviews left and then I'm done, so the I'm about 1 month off to completion. Glad you thought it was interesting.

I might be interested in a DVD once you've sorted it as my internet at home really is abysmal. Any chance you could do this?

I took a look at your other work too. Great stuff. I would like to do some filming/photography stuff. I have done a very limited amount of photography and filming and it's always nice to find out what other people have done.

Not too arduino related but nice anyway.

More info on your turntable?

Thanks for your kind words. I do use Arduino often to solve small camera related issues. Mostly as a cheap motion controller with Servo's and Steppers. I've used it on various things to control LED lights so there is some relevance. It's just not well documented on my blog unfortunately. This documentary however does have Arduino content as it applies to Open Source and Australian Electronics. I think it will still have universal appeal to anyone interested in Electronics around the world! ;D

Karl,

Based on the trailer your upcoming video looks very interesting. Shooting it the documentary using a Canon 5DMK2 makes it even more so.

Good luck in marketing it . . . hopefully it will make its way over to North American media as well.

I'm certainly interested.
In particular 'people these days don't even know how a lightbulb works' caught my eye, a topic I find interesting.. and am flabberghasted by.

Hoping it will be available as a whole through torrent.
