ESP32 S3 N16R8 and Ide Configuration

I bought this ESP but i can’t make it work through Arduino Ide

uploading a sketch does not give any error but code is not working (a simple serial.print)

Can anyone share with me arduino Ide configuration for this board ?

thanks a lot

Check if you have USB CDC On Boot disabled on board settings.
Also, if you have doubts about your board, try with Blink or some other example that is not using Serial.

thanks for your reply

yes “USb CDC on Boot” is disabled

and blink sketch in esp32/gpio exemples does not work

So enable that.
And what board you have selected?

i selected ESP32S3 dev Module

in outpu, i can read:
Connected to ESP32-S3 on COM9:
Chip type: ESP32-S3 (QFN56) (revision v0.2)
Features: Wi-Fi, BT 5 (LE), Dual Core + LP Core, 240MHz, Embedded PSRAM 8MB (AP_3v3)
Crystal frequency: 40MHz
USB mode: USB-Serial/JTAG

Should be good.

Thnaks your help

unfotunately, it doesn’t

Is your PC USB cable plugged into the right port? Don;'t know, then try both. If you can't upload Blink to either port and have tried the USB setting both ways (that's 8 attempts) at least 5 times with restarting the IDE at least 3 and maybe rebooting once, then it could still fail. Too early to do the math, but roughly 40 attempts? I have seen some boards fail all day long, and the next morning work on the first try. And I tried 12 boards. Go figure!

Thanks for your tips

In fact, i also tried 25 times or more, tried gpio 48, 38, 10…. as other posts suggested

and different configs
i checked also that RGB pind are welded

What does that mean?

What configs?

Let me finish getting up and I will hook up one of my esp32-s3s and try a blink sketch. When it works I will photograph the connection and screen grab the tools menu. Back in 20 or 30.

oh my god, this is so kind !! thanks a lot

By confgs, i meant : flash size, jtag adaptater, …. even board (otg module)

Here are the pictures of the board. As you can see, except for RGB pins (next to the Rgb pixel) nothing is welded

Here is my board with the tested USB-C plugged into the USB (LEFT) port and I made no changes to the tools menu, I almost never do but those that do often come here with a problem. Lesson?

so many thanks for this try

but it fails here for me with the same confi as yours

maybe the rgb led is dead….

maybe should i try with platform.io (i have it installed with vscodium) ?

Nope, more likely the cable is bad. Do yuou have a cable continuity tester, AND a cable function tester? Probably not, so get a board you know is good and try that cable with blink.
You did notice which port I was polugged into right? Of course trying both is a good technique as well.
Last option is dead board. Do any lights light up by just plugging in the USB-C cable?

i declared #define BuiltinLed 48 (38 or other)

i kow it is not mandatory but i read that worked for other guys

i do not have cable tester but with other boards, uploads and evything works

yes Usb port is on the left

NO, stop listening to raqndom people. That board has it all built in, just select this board and load blink sample do NOT touch the sketch, also look closely at my tools screen grab and make sure yours is identical.

If none of this works, buy another board.
