Help me understand this phonecal example code for Elegoo 2.8" TFT shield

Please help me understand this example code for the TFT screen I bought. The library and example code came from Elegoo but it is virtually the same as the Adafruit library and example code. It is the phonecal.ino example program that shows a fake phone screen with buttons that when pressed on the touch screen makes the characters appear at the top. The code works perfectly on my hardware but I want to understand how. The code comments are lacking clarity for me.

At line 234 there is an if statement that checks if the pressure p.z meets the threshold to be a screen touch. If met, the coordinates of the touch are scaled to match the screen resolution. OK so far. What I don't understand is at line 241 there is a for loop that checks if buttons were pressed, but this is outside the if statement above. So what prevents unscaled touch x and y coordinates that don't meet the pressure threshold from causing the wrong buttons being assigned as pressed? The code works but I don't understand how. I see what you mean. I suspect the reason it works is "luck". The unscaled coordinates are maybe up one corner of the display where there happens to be no button. Or maybe they are way off the screen somewhere, so, again, don't match a button. It's doesn't seem to be the best-written code.

Yeah you would think example code would be more exemplary. I modified this example code to make my program and when mine was having some problems with random buttons being pushed I looked at the code more carefully and found this.

I tried using UTFT libraries from Rinky Dink Electronics but their example code with libraries was too big for the Uno flash memory. Their libraries looks to be simpler to use. I am going to put addressable LED lights on my golf cart and I want to be able to control different patterns, brightness, and turn on and off. A touch screen seems like an fairly easy way to do all of this without a bunch of physical buttons but at this point wiring in buttons would have been quicker.

I was able to get my similar program working by scaling all of the touch sensor coordinates, then checking for pressure threshold within the for loop and if statement that checks if each button contains the current point.
This scaling is different than the example because my screen is in landscape mode. I didn't bother to fix the phonecal example program but hopefully this helps anyone else with the same question I had.
