Help! RGB LED light strip in wardrobe

I'm sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place. I am looking for some help. I have sliding wardrobes in my room and would like some RGB LED light strips to turn on when the door opens on 6 individual shelves inside. I would like to change the colour using the IR remote provided. What parts will I need and what code will I need.

Start by getting the Arduino cookbook and reading it. Also on line there are many videos etc showing the Arduino and how to do what you want. This response is to help you get started in solving your problem, not solve it for you.
