Help With Playstation 2 Controller Signal with Arduino Uno

Hey everyone, I like to stream video game speedruns and i saw another streamer who had a controller input display on his stream. i wanted to do this myself and tried splicing a second male plug on the controller to go to an adapter on my laptop. I would then use a program on the laptop to let others view what i was doing. Bottom line, it did not work. So I did some research and figured I would be able to do this with an arduino uno. The project is pretty much over my head as i do not have any experience with the arduino and programming. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

### Things You’ll Need
* An [Arduino Uno](http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoBoardUno) or any ATMega328-based Arduino at 16 MHz.
  * With USB-A to USB-B cable (Printer cable)
* Preferably a [GameCube controller extension cable](http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_24?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=gamecube+extension+cable&sprefix=gamecube+extension+cable%2Caps%2C217&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Agamecube+extension+cable). If not, you will need to splice the wire from your GameCube Controller.
* Soldering equipment, i.e.
  * Soldering Iron
  * Solder (60/40, 63/37; very thin gauge)
  * Thin gauge wire, bought or salvaged.
  * Optional: Pin Headers
  * Electrical tape
      (!) *Don’t skimp on this! Regular tape will burn if a circuit shorts out on you. Use electrical tape only!*

### Controller Basics
A Gamecube controller cable is made up of 6 wires:
* 5v Power for Rumble
* 3.43v Logic Supply

So I'm thinking I need to send the signal and the ground to the Arduino. If anyone has any idea what I should do, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Anybody know if this is even possible with a playstation 2 controller? It seems more complicated then a gamecube controller.
