How do I connect an ethernet shield to the local network using a laptop

Hello,

sorry if I misuse terms, because I do not know much about networking. I am trying to connect an ethernet shield to the local home network by plugging it into an ethernet port on a laptop. The laptop is connected by Wi-Fi. I do not have access to the router and there is no way that I can get access to it. Here is a diagram of what I want to set up:

What does your laptop think is happening?

I can access the webpage of the Arduino through the laptop, but not through any other device on the network.

In otherwords, the laptop doesn't know that you plugged in a cable from the ethernet shield. You need programs in the laptop to understand what you want to do.

The laptop can see the shield, I just want to be able to access the webpage on the shield from another device on the Wi-Fi, for example, my phone. Also, what programs can do that?
