How do I connect male pins in a permanent project?

Stupid question, if I have something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Zitrades-ENC28J60-Ethernet-Network-Arduino/dp/B00GWI9WH6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389745562&sr=8-1&keywords=ENC28J60

...how would I connect wires to this module for a permanent project? Solder them? Is there a specific type of female connector that's very strong?

Thanks!

Ribbon cable and connectors cash be homemade from the cable+pressed header or purchased.

Personally, I use these often:

I use crimp connectors and find them to be very reliable. Pololu has a nice assortment of male & female headers, pins, ready made cables and tools to make your own cables Pololu - Crimp Connector Housings

You can also use Dupont connectors - basically the same as the Pololu connectors.

Thanks guys. Are these things tight on the pins? I don't need to tape them down or anything?

The crimp on IDC connectors stay on very securely.

These connectors are generally meant to be used inside an enclosure and are not intended for exposed connections in places where the wires can be tugged by children, etc. You can buy snap-lock headers and housings that have the same type of pins and connectors, but are somewhat more secure if there is a chance that cables will be moved around.

That sounds perfect. Can you guide me to a specific product? Thanks!

And thanks everyone else! BTW: Robert, as soon as you answered, I realized, I think I asked this question once before! Thanks again!

Here is an example of a snap-lock header and connector; they can have 2-16 pins http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/CON-236/6-PIN-CONNECTOR-W/HEADER-0.156/1.html

To use one like this on the board you have, you would obviously have to remove the existing male header (which can be done pin-by-pin with needle-nosed pliers).
