Hi, for an Arduino project I need to use a CPU fan as a generator. Is there a way to make a DC 12V CPU fan into a generator? I'm doing a sort of a wind turbine project so I was looking to see if I could turn the cpu fan into a generator and go from there.
There is always a way but it depends on what the fan motor type is and can you get at the innards to make the necessary changes and keep it free to spin on its berings. I would look at some hobby motors that have magnets internal and add a propeller on the outside if wind is to turn it. Also at best you might get a few mills, but not guarenteed.
You will have to remove/replace all the electronics of a regular CPU fan.
Get the output directly from the coils, or feed it to a suitable rectifier circuit first.
