I'm not the right person to answer this, but I know that the main hassle seems to be that you need that whole process to make changes.
The tools are windows-only if I'm not wrong.
It's generally a pain, but I'll forward your message to someone in the firmware team, maybe they have ideas/suggestions/words of caution
