So if I want to embed pictures in my post, but don't have it on a public web site, how do I go about doing that? I see how to attach a photo, but I have found no easy way to get it inserted into my forum post.
The one way I have found is to attach the image, post my forum entry, then open the edit box, right click the image to obtain the URL and insert that between image tages.
Is there no other easier way to get attached images into the text of a post?
Thanks.
Use the "Attachments and other options" under the Reply box. That gets the image as a link.
Copy the link. Then click More, and Modify.
Add image tags with the link in the middle and voila, image inserted.
Image tags are img and /img in square braces, [ ], no spaces.
For example, I used the windows Snipping tool (looks like scissors over a circle) to save this, and added it in as I described.
As CrossRoads pointed out, the process is quite logical, but it isn’t obvious to the point & click generation.
Hopefully the site devs will add this in the next generation of the forum

Thanks, however that doesn't seem to work for me. When I upload an image, the file name appears in the attachments section, however there is no way to right click to get the image address. That capability does not present itself until I post the image, then reopen it with the editor. So, for me its a two step process.

Thanks, that is exactly the way I am doing it right now. I was just wondering if there isn't a better way. That sure seems to be a "klunky" way to get an image in the text box. But, I get it if the goal is to keep image size down to a reasonable size. Otherwise...

Yes, it's a two step process.
Make the original post using the Attach feature. Post it.
Then right-click the link, copy it,
Modify the post and add it in using the img tags. Save.
Barely takes any time at all.
Many thanks. It takes a while to get them all posted, but it is what it is. Better than what we had 30 years ago!!! :o

I agree it is a PITA but that is state of the art for this Forum.

Try it as a Moderator. I edit lots of posts to embed pictures. Doesn't take long once you do a few.
