How to upload code for AtmelMega4809 using Arduino IDE?

I have designed a customized board with IC ATmega4809 and also for programming it. I have used ATmega8U2 for the conversion of data from USB to USART/Serial. Keeping everything same as for ATmega2560 standard board the only thing I replaced was the main IC i.e, ATmega4809. Now there is no port detection in the Arduino IDE. Please help, thanks in advance

the port of the 8u2 should be detected, but there is no bootloader for serial upload to 4909. the Arduino Uno WiFi and Ardunio Nano Every use a second MCU programmed as a UPDI programmer.

Did you install a firmware on the ATmega8U2?

Discussion regarding possibly creating a serial bootloader for ATmega4809:

[You need] a UPDI programmer.

There is an equivalent of "Arduino as ISP" that supports UPDI:
