The Serial Monitor has some major problems. I hope it is OK to put two problems with the same thingy in the same post. If not, I can modify to remove #2 and put it in a separate post.
As far as I can tell, it cannot be detached and be its own window. Therefore, it is quite small and, if enlarged, interferes with editing of the code in the top part of the window by making it quite small.
It does not scroll as new information is added. This is necessary!! New output needs to be able to be seen without constantly being on the mouse forcing scrolling by clicking. Refer to IDE 1.0 for proper operation of the Serial Monitor window. Just copy that. It was right the first time and, now, it is not right.
If I have missed something on this, I apologize. I tried to find any way to make these two things happen and failed.

### Describe the request
Allow **Serial Monitor** to be placed in a dedicated… window separate from the primary Arduino IDE window.
🙂 It will be possible for the user to control the display location of the Serial Monitor separately from the primary Arduino IDE window according to their needs and preferences.
🙂 This will provide feature parity with the Arduino IDE 1.x Serial Monitor.
### Describe the current behavior
Serial Monitor is a view in the bottom panel of the primary Arduino IDE window.
🙁 It is not possible to move Serial Monitor to a separate screen in order to dedicate all space on the primary screen to the Arduino IDE editor.
### Arduino IDE version
#### Original report
2.0.0-beta.4
#### Last verified with
2.0.1-snapshot-32d904c
### Operating system
All
### Operating system version
Any
### Additional context
The requested "tear off" capability would probably make sense for other windows ("**Output**" view) too.

#### Workaround
1. Select **File > New Sketch** from the Arduino IDE menus.
A new Arduino IDE window will open.
1. Select **Tools > Serial Monitor** from the Arduino IDE menus.
The "**Serial Monitor**" view will open in the bottom panel of the Arduino IDE window.
1. Hover the mouse pointer over the top border of the bottom panel.
The mouse pointer will change into a resize icon.
1. Click and drag the border up until it reaches its maximum height.
You can now use that Arduino IDE window solely for Serial Monitor, switching back to the other Arduino IDE window to do sketch editing, compile, upload, etc. operations just as you would do with the Arduino IDE 1.x Serial Monitor.

### Issue checklist
- [X] I searched for previous requests in [the issue tracker](https://github.com/arduino/arduino-ide/issues?q=)
- [X] I verified the feature was still missing when using the latest [nightly build](https://github.com/arduino/arduino-ide#nightly-builds)
- [X] My request contains all necessary details
Note the recent comment:
it's definitely in our roadmap and at the top of the list.
We are giving maximum priorities to bugs that compromise the standard usage, next will come performance and UX improvements, like this issue with the monitor. We already designed the new one that is gonna be a separate window like the serial plotter.
If you have a GitHub account, you can subscribe to that issue to get notifications of any new developments related to this subject.
The "autoscroll" behavior is configurable. In Arduino IDE 2.x, it is done by clicking this icon ("Toggle Autoscroll "):
Autoscroll is enabled by default, so it seems you must have clicked that icon at some point.
