Is Arduino Zero a family of many boards? If so, what kind of boards is included?

Hello!

I am a student at the University. Recently I am doing my graduation project. My supervisor suggested me to use Arduino Zero for my project but he said that Arduino zero is not a specific board, it includes a family of boards and I need to decide which board I am going to use.

After searching on the Internet, I can't find any information about what kind of board is included in the family of Arduino Zero, which confused me a lot. Is anyone here can give me some useful advice?

Thank you very much!

Your supervisor is wrong. The Arduino Zero is a specific board:

You could consider the Arduino Zero to be part of the family of boards based on the ATSAMD21G18 microcontroller. Those include the Arduino MKR series of boards, the Arduino M0, the Arduino M0 Pro, the Arduino Nano 33 IoT, and some 3rd party boards like the Adafruit M0 boards.

Thank you very much for your rapid reply.

I will email my supervisor about that. One more quick question. Because I need to buy the equipment from the university's suppliers and I found that Arduino Zero is only available on the Arduino official web. Do you know any supplier that has Arduino zero board to sell?

I don't know of any specific suppliers, but there is a list of Arduino's distributors here that you could cross-reference with your university's supplier list and check whether any of them have the Zero in stock:

I've noticed the Zero has been out of stock in the Arduino store for customers in America, Asia, Oceania for quite some time now, though it has been in stock for Europe/Africa that whole time. Even when the Arduino Store is out of stock, you will find that the distributors often have inventory.

The Arduino MKR boards are a more recent product and so you might find them to be more readily available. The MKR Zero is a nice little board at a reasonable price. It's a bit less fully featured than the Zero in that the Zero has a built in debugger, which none of the MKR boards have. That debugger is very rarely used by Arduino users so it might not be much of a loss.

That's really helpful, thank you very much for that

You're welcome. I'm glad if I was able to be of assistance. Enjoy!
