This is what gave it away. My used method is not dependent on the mics being exactly of same quality. One mic can record at 44.1 kHz and 16 bits, the other at 16 kHz and 8 bits. The mics can have very different frequency responses. And I'd still get two signals that I can match to find the time shift. ChatGPT is very often like a grammar school pupil, who just tries to repeat good sounding phrases related to the subject, without noticing that the phrases don't go together very well.
