What exactly are you asking, its not clear.
i am asking, is corellaser works with arduino uno(grbl) based cnc?
i have never used an arduino for cnc application, but if you have already made a cnc router, a laser engraver is not too different, depending on the kind your making.
are you using this:
if so then yes you definitely (probably) could, hardware wise.
if your wondering about software, here click me is something about using mach3 and coreldraw.
looking online there are ways to convert the generated instructions from coreldraw to manny different formats.
hope this helps.
EDIT: looks like this is grbl not mach3. i dont think that many "professional" softwares will work. perhaps use this: http://lasergrbl.com/en/
Almost any G-Code generating software will work with a laser.
The problem some people face is in using the correct G-Code format as there are many varieties.
I always save it as MACH 2/3 and have yet to have any issues with either laser or with milling / engraving.
CNC software tends to be a user's own preferences.
They may already have experience with some particular software that lends to easier learning.
Myself I use the now defunct ARTCAM for a lot of work to generate the code and UGS to send it to the machine, for anything laser I simply use LASER GRBL as the learning curve is so short.
Bob.
i have some .dxf and .cdr files for laser cutting. some lines in red and some of them blue. i'd like to cut the red ones and engrave blue ones. corellaser is automatically understands that. i saw it on youtube they use corellaser but all of them have a machine that not based on arduino uno+cnc shield. my machine works w/cnc shield. is there any way to work with this logic?
there must be a software for grbl that works like corellaser and i'll find it. somebody HELP ME! ![]()
I, too, have a homebuilt CNC router that I wanted to try to make into a laser engraver. An Uno and CNC shield for the hardware and Inkscape to draw and make gcode and grbl and bCNC for the controller and sender. So, yes it is possible.
I decided to give up on the laser engraver when I realized how difficult it would be to fully enclose my setup for fume extraction and to save my (and others) eyes from the reflected laser light.
There are so many programs that can handle DXF to G-Code I would not know where to start.
CDR is a proprietary format so the options are a little less unless you export from corel.
Bob.
