Latching Power Switch Circuit causes TFT screen to flicker

Hey all,

I have this latching power switch circuit (Latching Power Switch Circuit (Auto Power Off Circuit) | Random Nerd Tutorials) to an arduino with a 3.5in tft screen shield, which is all being powered by a 5V battery.

The circuit is connect to the 5V pin of the arduino as the shield makes the VIN pin inaccessible.

Everything works fine as intended, but the tft screen somewhat flickers and isn't as bright when connected to the latch circuit. When the same 5V pin is powered directly by the battery, the screen is much brighter, image loads faster, and there's no flickering.

I'm using a different MOSFET and transistor from the tutorial.

MOSFET IRF9610

Transistor 2222a

Could this be the problem?
