I2C is used in PC monitors through the Display Data Channel (DDC). DDC is a communication protocol used in VGA, DVI, and HDMI connections to transmit monitor information like supported resolutions, refresh rates, and serial numbers. This information is transmitted via the I2C protocol, which is a two-wire serial bus.
I know what you are hoping to do, but the means does not exist on the modules you have. The device needs to have a ROM with the information pre-programmed (vendor ID, device ID), and a mechanism to access the ROM, as well as read the ROM.
