Loss of wifi connection

Using the UNO R4 with wifi, the wifi connection to the cloud often fails and data stops being recorded. I have tried adding software to get it to reboot but this does not seem to work. Could the Cloud send a message (SMS or email etc.) warning us that the board is no longer connected and sending data?

If you read and follow the forum instructions, given in the "How to get the best out of this forum" post, and supply the needed information, people will be happy to help you fix that.

Apologies if my point was not clear; I was merely suggesting that Arduino add the facility for users to receive a message when their wifi board loses wifi connection and data ceases to be read. It is very frustrating that a board can work for several days without problems but without warning it loses wifi connection and you never find out until you connect to your board on you iPad.

Not possible, how do you distinguish between a wanted and unwanted disconnect. You can add code to deal with that, look up 'watchdog timer', it's a standard part of commercial products and advanced hobbyists.

Thanks but I already have code to monitor whether wifi is connected. If it stops then the board should reboot which will reconnect the wifi. Clearly that is not working either. Surely Arduino could add the facility to warn people when the power is still on but the wifi disconnects?

How do you expect "Arduino" to know whether the disconnect is unwanted, or on purpose? It hardly seems to be their responsibility.

Disconnects from the internet are a modern fact of life, and most people simply write code to detect that state and reconnect as necessary.

well there is a very simple solution. You give the operator the option to turn this facility on or off. When someone is developing new software and testing it, they would turn it off. However once the board went into service and was collecting data, they could turn the facility on if they want it.
