Mechanical considerations for a pressure-sensitive XY pad

Hello,

I want to build a pressure-sensitive pad built with 4 FSR sensors and a plate. The idea is to change the load repartition over the 4 FSRs according to the position of the finger.

The pad would have a size of something like 15x15 cm.

There would be cones between the plate and the FSRs to balance the force on the whole surface of each FSR.

The plate would be made in a rigid material. I was thinking about aluminium but maybe there is a more appropriate material ?

I have no idea about the material to choose for the cones. I'd like them to be a bit elastic but maybe it's not compatible with the idea of balancing the force applied from the plate ?

Any suggestion ?
