Mosfet pwm voltage control

Hello, would it be possible to connect a pwm pin from the arduino to a mosfet gate pin and achieve a variable voltage regulator depending on the pwm # (0-255)? The mosfet will be switching power from two 26650 lithium cells which can discharge 30 amps at a time each to heat up a coil that will be in the .2 ohm range. Thanks

Possible of course, in theory, in practice it will most probably require some sophisticated driver circuit. Do you know the inductance of the coil? It will influence the circuitry.

Is there some reason why you need "a variable voltage regulator"? If you are trying to control the temperature of a heating coil it is usually sufficient to use PWM directly: a variable duty-cycle controller. A logic-level power MOSFET capable of switching 60A should not be a problem, like these from ON Semiconductor: http://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/NTP60N06L-D.PDF
