If the project is supposed to last over 100 hours then I'd use metal geared servos. I've not had a plastic geared servo last more than 100 hours of continuous operation. Which means frequent servo replacement, which drives up the cost. The plastic gears wear out and servo position becomes sloppy.
I now have metal geared servos that have been running 24/7 for 3+ years.
