My LED strip addresses a pixel with 3 LEDs, not 1. Is this a problem with my sketch or is it possible that the strip is wired that way?
The same behavior occurs with the Arduino IDE and with Micropython. I am using an ESP32.

Some strips are like that especially the ones that need a 12V power input. Can you post a link to where you bought it from please.

Yes, if this is a 12v strip - it is how it wired. In this case, it can't be changed.
Thank you all for your support. I have asked the seller and indeed the strip is wired with 3 LEDs per pixel.
