IDE 2 2:1.0.5+dfsg2-4.1

In Debian 10 buster

Any ideas?

You have an antique version of the IDE installed. Uninstall and download the proper one from the software section on arduino.cc

tried those first and they failed with

./arduino-ide_2.0.3_Linux_64bit.AppImage
[8149:0120/203107.913053:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(158)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /tmp/.mount_arduinuOW4vp/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.

Hi @arnieskynet. Since you had problems with the "AppImage" package of Arduino IDE 2.x, please try the "ZIP" package as a workaround.

I'll provide instructions:

  1. Open the "Software" page:
    https://www.arduino.cc/en/software
  2. Click the "Linux ZIP file 64 bits (X86-64)" link under the "Arduino IDE 2.0.3" section of the page.
  3. Wait for the download to finish.
  4. Copy the downloaded file to any convenient place on your computer where you would like to store the Arduino IDE installation.
  5. Unzip the downloaded file.
  6. Open the unzipped folder in the terminal.
  7. Type the following command:
    ./arduino-ide

  8. Press the Enter key.

Hopefully Arduino IDE will now start without any problems.

Please let me know if you have any questions or problems while following those instructions.
