OTA on generic EPS8266 don't work and some other questions

I buy "maker plan", but I have no possibility to upload code via OTA. With serial port works without problem. Do I forgave something?

Also in my plan shod get more data history, but I have only 15 days. Why? I select this plan for 90 days history!

And the last problem is, that arduino agent v 1.3.7 make me this....

Hi @simonsko. Thanks for your report.

Arduino Cloud's OTA upload feature is not available for ESP8266 boards.

You can see the list of boards this feature can be used with in the documentation here:

https://docs.arduino.cc/arduino-cloud/features/ota-getting-started/#compatible-hardware

The full history can be downloaded in a CSV file. There are instructions for doing that here:

https://docs.arduino.cc/arduino-cloud/features/iot-cloud-historical-data/

You can open the CSV file in a spreadsheet application (as well as any other similar applications) and use that to do advanced analysis and charting of the data.

The Arduino Cloud developers are tracking this bug here:

Hi

  1. why not? Total disappointing. OTA is useless, if it is available only for few development board. If you make own PCB you can not use it......

  2. Why not in graph???? I pay for graph not for CSV data. This is not online view!

I'm sorry, but this arduino cloud make me more disappointing each time I try to use it. I also try to cancel my plan and go to other provider, but there is no response from you.

I'm sorry, but you must fix a lot of things before your cloud will be worth of money!

I am not involved in the Arduino Cloud development so I'm afraid I don't have any answer to that question.

It is not useless for the people who are using any of the dozens of popular boards that are compatible.

You can if your PCB is functionally equivalent to one of the compatible boards.

I am not involved in the Arduino Cloud development so I'm afraid I don't have any answer to that question.

Did you read somewhere that your plan would allow displaying 90 days of data in a dashboard widget? If so, please provide a link to that page and I'll request that the information be corrected.

You can follow the instructions for canceling your plan here:

https://support.arduino.cc/hc/en-us/articles/4401881299090-Review-change-or-cancel-your-Arduino-Cloud-plan#cancel

So there is no need to wait for a response from Arduino customer service.

Thanks for link where to cancel plan

But like I say before. It is doesn't work. I try twice. It is write, like your plan is free now, but no refund and on website I see the same plan.

Arduino does not offer refunds for digital services such as Arduino Cloud plans.

The explanation is the note on the cancelation instructions page:

Note: You will retain access to your paid features until the end of the billing cycle. See Billing and feature changes when switching to a different Cloud plan for more information.

So the cancelation only takes effect after your current billing cycle ends. After that your plan will be downgraded to the "FREE" plan. Until then, you have the plan you paid and the website will reflect your active plan.

Thank you

Another reason to NOT CHOICE ARDUINO CLOUD
I'm using Blynk now and I'm already impressed to begin with.
Yes, the ardiono cloud also has some good features that I missed from Blynk, but overall much, much better! OTA works great on generic ESP8266, app is much better. More choices. The temperature is displayed as a temperature, not just a number, you can choose the font, colour, design, ..... and finally cheaper!

Then I'm sorry to inform you they have the same policy:

https://blynk.io/tos#:~:text=Payment%20and%20Refund%20Terms

If you cancel your subscription, you will not be eligible for a prorated refund of any portion of the subscription fee paid for the then-current subscription period.

I'm glad you have found a service that meets your requirements.

The monthly subscription price of the "Maker" plan is $6.99 USD for both platforms.
