Phone to connect Arduino with?

Hello,

I have been reading a lot about interfacing the arduino with old mobile phones like the 230 etc and using AT commands to make calls, send and much more.

However i was wondering is it possible to do this with some of the newer, cheap phones sold on the market today? and if so could you recommend some phones?
I would like to be able to use GSM and GPRS via AT commands, so would like a newer phone with a fast GPRS connection.

The old Motorola RAZR is a great choice on Ebay via USB host. Very cheap. You can choose from Verizon or AT&T, but keep in mind the command set differs between them.
