Picture upload broken?

Since several weeks I see that the forum declines some of my pictures to be uploaded to the forum.
The forum declines them with a message like

"There was a problem during the uploading of antennenschalter_165848.jpg.
Your post has been made, however the above attachment was not attached. Please use the Back button to edit your post and submit any required changes.
Your attachment has failed security checks and cannot be uploaded. Please consult the forum administrator."

I assume it's caused by EXIF data in the image. I'll attach a zip containing that file for your analyses.

This bug is annoying because in the German forum we try to convince people to upload pictures to the forum and not to use external picture hosters.

I would really appreciate if someone could fix that (not the picture itself - but the upload of exif'ed pictures).

antennenschalter _170030.zip (88.9 KB)

I had that recently, I changed the filename and it uploaded without any problems.

I think there are security checks but they are a bit crude.

There are various known problems with the forum software, you just need to get used to it. There are various discussions about it here have a look.

There's new forum software being prepared as we speak, don't know when it will be ready.

It's not broken, it's a genuine security issue.

You are right, it is due to EXIF data.
98% of pictures are shot by a phone these days.
EXIF data doesn't only contain information about the picture or the camera used.
It may also contain your GPS position at the time of the photoshoot.

The solution is to get rid of the EXIF data, i can't imagine any use of that on this forum anyway.
I found the easiest way to do that, is to convert the image to the *.PNG format, which doesn't support EXIF data.
*.PNG is also supported by the forum software.
