Please help with this avrdude: error

Hi, I’m new to Arduino. I have an error in avrdude and I don’t know:

  1. What it is.
  2. How to fix it.
I am using a trinket with 5v logic from Adafruit and I can’t manage to upload my program to it. The code I am trying to upload is unchanged from the code given in a project from Adafruit:

Error:

I am using a Yoga900 and windows 10 if that is important. The circuit diagram is in the Project Link.

This is very confusing…
Please help!

Weasel2: Hi, I'm new to Arduino. I have an error in avrdude and I don't know:

What are you using for a programmer, and what is the AVRDUDE command line being sent?

(hint you can set your Arduino IDE preferences to "verbose output during compilation" and then copy / paste the part that has the AVRDUDE command string (will be near the end of all the stuff that displays).

I am using USBTinyISP as the programmer.

Also I am not entirely sure what you are asking for. Do you mean this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\hardware\tools\avr/bin/avr-g++" -c -g -Os -w -std=gnu++11 -fpermissive -fno-exceptions -ffunction-sections -fdata-sections -fno-threadsafe-statics -flto -w -x c++ -E -CC -mmcu=attiny85 -DF_CPU=8000000L -DARDUINO=10801 -DARDUINO_AVR_TRINKET3 -DARDUINO_ARCH_AVR "-IC:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\hardware\arduino\avr\cores\arduino" "-IC:\Users\dkopl\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\adafruit\hardware\avr\1.4.9\variants\tiny8" "C:\Users\dkopl\AppData\Local\Temp\arduino_build_923202\sketch\sketch_mar10a.ino.cpp" -o "nul" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\hardware\tools\avr/bin/avr-g++" -c -g -Os -w -std=gnu++11 -fpermissive -fno-exceptions -ffunction-sections -fdata-sections -fno-threadsafe-statics -flto -w -x c++ -E -CC -mmcu=attiny85 -DF_CPU=8000000L -DARDUINO=10801 -DARDUINO_AVR_TRINKET3 -DARDUINO_ARCH_AVR "-IC:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\hardware\arduino\avr\cores\arduino" "-IC:\Users\dkopl\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\adafruit\hardware\avr\1.4.9\variants\tiny8" "-IC:\Users\dkopl\OneDrive\Documents\Arduino\libraries\Adafruit_NeoPixel-master" "C:\Users\dkopl\AppData\Local\Temp\arduino_build_923202\sketch\sketch_mar10a.ino.cpp" -o "nul" Using cached library dependencies for file: C:\Users\dkopl\OneDrive\Documents\Arduino\libraries\Adafruit_NeoPixel-master\Adafruit_NeoPixel.cpp Using cached library dependencies for file: C:\Users\dkopl\OneDrive\Documents\Arduino\libraries\Adafruit_NeoPixel-master\esp8266.c Generating function prototypes... Kinda like that, but also upload the sketch to the board (even if it fails). At the very end of that big dump of data, you should see something that looks like this:

avrdude -p atmega2560 -qq -B 8.0 -c wiring -P /dev/ttyACM1 -b 115200 -D -U flash:w:/tmp/build8152949592411684620.tmp/ir_record.cpp.hex:i -U eeprom:w:/tmp/build8152949592411684620.tmp/ir_record.cpp.eep:i

That's what I was asking for.

Ow ok, but I still don’t see what you are talking about. The very end shows thongs relating to avrdude:

avrdude: programmer operation not supported

avrdude: Using SCK period of 10 usec

avrdude: error: usbtiny_transmit:
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.

avrdude: error: usbtiny_transmit:

avrdude done. Thank you.

the selected serial port
does not exist or your board is not connected

But the board is connected and the serial port is on the board.
