Powering the MKR 1310 WAN from external 3.3v supply

I need to power my Arduino MKR WAN 1310 from an external 3.3V power supply. Can I provide power using the 3v3 PIN or is this for output only?

The problem: I have a battery operated device running on 2 Li-ion cells. So I have 7.4V of voltage for the device. I need 3.3V for other parts of the device, and about 500ma. If I add a 5V voltage regulator to power the arduino and want to use the arduino's 3v3 regulator, it won't be able to provide enough power.

So I prefer to use an external voltage regulator to provide 3.3V to both the arduino and the other parts of the device. But I'm unable to find any more information about the 3v3 PIN.

Is it output only?

Looks to the schematic

As far as I see, the 3v3 pin is directly connected to board power bus, so you can use it as power source, in case if you sure to provide a stable 3.3v voltage.
