I've tried most of the strategies online (like this) but it didn't work. The weirdest part is I've tried running other example programs such as blink from the Arduino IDE, and it seems to upload and work perfectly fine on the same Uno.
Any advice on what to do? I've been stuck here forever, so it would really mean a lot!
@sterretje It just uploads and runs without the error message. A successful upload executes avrdude and prints out the regular stuff below. Sorry if I'm missing something

@gilshultz The blink changes and runs fine. I'm also running blink from the Arduino IDE but I'm running this program (that isn't uploading) on the terminal. Not sure if that makes a difference?
That does make a difference. Do it all with the same programing setup. The IDE has a specific protocol that it follows for uploading, the terminal normally would nol.
