Programmer is not responding/in sync for only one program

Trying to run some code I downloaded from GitHub on my Arduino Uno R3. I run into this error when I try to % make upload from the terminal:

I've tried most of the strategies online (like this) but it didn't work. The weirdest part is I've tried running other example programs such as blink from the Arduino IDE, and it seems to upload and work perfectly fine on the same Uno.

Any advice on what to do? I've been stuck here forever, so it would really mean a lot!

Wrong baudrate. From boards.txt

uno.upload.speed=115200

I've tried changing the MONITOR_BAUDRATE parameter in the makefile, but to no avail. :frowning:

Try the blink sketch, it is in examples. If that does not work, be sure the correct board is selected.

@gilshultz Already tried that — surprisingly blink still runs. It's just this program that's not uploading.

Compare the command of a successful upload to that if a failed upload. Any difference (except for filename)?

Change the blink time to about 4000 for the on and 800 for the off and upload it. Then see if the blink changes. Let us know.

@sterretje It just uploads and runs without the error message. A successful upload executes avrdude and prints out the regular stuff below. Sorry if I'm missing something :frowning:

avrdude done.  Thank you.

@gilshultz The blink changes and runs fine. I'm also running blink from the Arduino IDE but I'm running this program (that isn't uploading) on the terminal. Not sure if that makes a difference?

That is what I expect to see when you upload for an Uno. However, the command line in the image in the opening post states 57600.

So compare the two commands, not the output of the commands; post both here if in doubt,

That does make a difference. Do it all with the same programing setup. The IDE has a specific protocol that it follows for uploading, the terminal normally would nol.
