Question about arduino Uno

Helo,

I have a question about the arduino uno summary posted. It says:

Operating Voltage: 5V ( Is the voltage that should be supplied to arduino uno? )
Input Voltage (recommended): 7-12V (Does this mean I can input any voltages between 7-12?)
Input Voltage (limits): 6-20V (What exactly does this mean?)

According to ATmega328 datasheet it says the ADC limit is 0 to Vcc (It means 0 to 5V right?)

Thanks

  1. Yes.
  2. Yes, must be DC.
  3. <6V, you won't get good 5V at the ATMega. >20V, regulator may overheat and go into thermal shutdown until it cools off.
  4. Yes.

Can get a nice 7.5V 1A supply here www.dipmicro.com for <$5 with very inexpensive shipping. Or a 5V 1A or 2A supply for about the same. Pick up some other stuff to play with while you're there too.
