Hi! I have a question, I plan to use the Ra-02 RF module on a custom PCB, only the module not the breakout board. On the Sx1278 RF module containing the Ra-02 chip I can see 2 capacitors. Do I need them? What is their purpose?
Bypass capacitors are required, and since they are such critical components, some designers add "extra" capacitance to breakout boards as a safety measure. Those two are probably a parallel pair, one of a few uF and the other 10 to 100 nF, from Vdd to GND.
Always check the module data sheet for the designer's recommended connections.
These are connected between Vcc and GND.
Yes you need them.
Place them as close to the module as possible.
What values would be needed? I have 100nF/0.1uF, 4.7uF and 10uF capacitors.
Would 10uF and 100nF capacitors work?
