Recommendation on Wifi Shield

Hi guys,

Being a beginner with Arduino i have the following explanation with a question;

  • I have an Arduino UNO R3.

  • I want to use Wifi in order to communicate with other internet-connected machines. (I want the project to connect to my mobile phone on long distance)

  • What type of Wifi shield do you guys recommend me to order and where?(im looking at aliexpress but i want to make sure to buy the correct device)/ or would you suggest to buy an UNO with integrated Wifi?

Maybe you could start by explaining what exactly you want to do. "Communicating with other machines" is pretty broad.

I personally like the ESP8266, but it may not be the best solution for your particular goal.

I've used the Adafruit ATWINC1500 breakout which also comes as a shield (a bit on the expensive side). The breakout has been easy to use and reliable for me.

I had no luck with the CC3000 based breakout.
