I would like to know if you can show me a link for a project similar to the commented below.

We need to develop a system with arduino that can save the infrarred buttons (for example play, stop and pause) of a my remote control and send this infrarred signal when i push my customs buttons.

The idea is use a DVD player using buttons placed on a desk or in a wall and i need that this system works with any remote control (the system has to be able to save the infrarred of at least 8 buttons)

I'd be interested in learning about this as well..

I have read some posts or blogs about people using it to capture their remote control 'codes'..

maybe getting an IR sensor from radio shack and playing around is a start? (no clue what kind of data they pick up or return..)
