Rj9 landline to BTheadset via arduino and BLE

A group of students has been challenged to use a bluetooth arduino adapter to allow full duplex use of a POTS landline that has an RJ9 headset jack. The arduino would be connected to the rj9 and make a full duplex BT connection with a BT headset, such as a Jawbone.

So, anyone have any idea where I can start research finding a solution? Essentially we have a headset jack from a landline and need that to pair with a bluetooth earpiece.
