Rosin Core or Flux Core?

I am new to soldering and I don't know if I should get rosin or flux core solder for mounting simple electronics to a perfboard.

Flux is a chemical cleaning agent used before and during the soldering process. Rosin is a type of flux. Rosin is the kind of flux to use when soldering electronic components. Clean the rosin flux residue with alcohol.

Thanks for the info

Acetone from HomeDepot works really well in removing soldering residue

And probably the solder mask as well. :grimacing:

Maybe, yes - I haven't tried it. Isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush works OK.

Yeah I'm an IPA guy myself.

Nah, lager man myself
but yeah isopropyl for cleaning, I use topnik rf800 rosin flux with integrated isopropyl

I hear iso and raspberry cordial is also very nice.

I use iso and toothbrush.
