Setting up a series of NeoPixel Jewel

Hello people,

I'm having difficulties in setting up a series connection of NeoPixel jewels.
Does anybody have an idea, why only the first one lights up?

The second one doesn't seem to draw any current, which makes me think I connected it wrong, but I'm not sure.

EDIT:

  • Power is now supplied by an external power supply
  • The USB will not be connected when supplying power externally
  • Maybe TinkerCAD is the problem and doesn't support NeoPixel Jewel in series

I think you will need more power.

The controller is not a power source. Use a proper, separate, power supply for the NEOs. You might blow the 5 volt line onboard.

Indeed, unfortunately I'm still left with only one.

What is that supply capable of 29 mA? That can't be used for anything.
External 5 volt can't be connected to Vin, only to the 5 volt pin. Remember to disconnect it when using USB connection.

It looks like a wiring issue - those LEDs apparently draw 18mA each, so I would expect at least a few more than seven to be manageable. You might try only lighting one LED on each jewel to be sure.

I'm able to turn on only the center LED of the first one, but not of the second...

Maybe the way to call the LEDs on the second jewel is different? Center LED of the first is number 0, then center of second should be number 8. No?

EDIT: Whoops, it's 0-6 for the first, 7-13 for the second of course.

Is this for real, or some kind of simulator?

If the latter, all bets are off!

How many LEDs do You want to turn as a maximum?
A few, say 5, maybe 10, will be possible from the UNO 5 volt.
Can You supply a link to the datasheet of those flowers?
Shifting 14 bits ought to cover all of them.
A tiny schematics made by pen and paper might be useful.
