Making a project using arduino for an SMS to be sent to a contact(an email could also work) when the skiier wearing the pants with this in the pants falls. Invention Convention project. Any tips, ideas, or feedback appreciated. Also curious about patent possibility. I'm curious if I could use an Arduino 4 Wifi and a grove base shield with a seeed grove GPS and accelerometer/gyroscope, then have the arduino 4 wifi send an email. Thanks!
How is a fall defined, in this particular case?
In the case I'm talking about, when there's a large change in their orientation that causes the skier to go from a skiing position, to a unbalanced, sloped type position
Are you able to reliably detect the "fallen skier" case using an accelerometer/gyro, or is this project still in the brainstorming phase?
It's still in the brainstorming phase.
Reliably detecting a fall is an interesting challenge and would be a good place to start the adventure.

Not this. Find what the Arduino R4 WiFi has on-board, and use those circuits to the fullest. Maybe you can measure the riders changes in acceleration and map it against a Richter Scale or show G-forces along a route.
