Hi guys, how do you guys store your Arduinos?
Right now, I have maybe 3 Unos, 3 Megas, 6 Nanos, a mix of ESP32s, sensors etc etc.
I want to put them in one of those sewing kit boxes with changeable dimensions ( similar to the pic below) but I am afraid the boards will move around too much and get stressed for no reason. My boards will be moved a few times a week, so that movement might just put undue stress on them .
My other idea was to buy foam and cut it precisely for every board. My concern is that I am unsure if i can find foam that I can use for electronics. I just don't want any static from the foam touching the board and frying something or whatever.
There are 2 kinds of anti-static foam (and bags, etc.). The pink is usually non-static generating and black is usually conductive an static dissipative ("better").
Of course, regular white Styrofoam is the worst and dangerous for electronics!
Hi @Mars-Sojourner. I use anti-static foam to protect the pins from getting bent and then put the board+foam into individual static dissipative (the silvery ones) resealable (AKA "ziploc") bags for further ESD protection as well as to keep them clean. The bags are then stored in cardboard bins in a shelving unit.
Note that if you get this kind, the conductivity can result in unexpected behavior if you try to use the boards while the pins are still in the foam.
