The support for Intel®-based platforms in Arduino Create just launched today!

  • Intel® Atom, Intel® Core™, or Intel® Xeon® Processors

Supported Operating Systems:

  • Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Does that mean I could use it on my Xeon based server ?

yes, given you are running Ubuntu 16.04 it should work, keep in mind there are two flows for getting it connected, one where you enter an IP address (need to be on the same subnet for it and have SSH server on your target), and the other where you enter in some commands on your target for it to connect (being on the same network isn't required).

You can also run Arduino Create on the same computer that you upload sketches to, using 127.0.0.1 as the IP address for example.

So its a Linux ONLY based project ?
Would hate to have to change my OS (server2012)

Yes, you can only connect to and run sketches on Linux based systems. However, I can't think of a reason why a virtual machine running on your Windows server wouldn't work.

Trying to get my head around this as it says Intel based systems but seems to be for only one quite expensive board using only Linux.

Are there plans to include the other Intel based boards such as the 101 Curie etc. etc. ?

Also are there plans to include windows OS ?

To be more clear, it's Intel-based systems that are 64-bit capable running Linux. If you're referring to the UP Squared board, the only difference there is that the OS comes pre-configured and setup is a little easier than a laptop or NUC.

No need to have that specific hardware to get started, I'm connecting to my development laptop that's running Ubuntu and I'm able to upload sketches just fine.

the Arduino 101 is already supported in Arduino Create (see attached).

I can't comment on Windows support, currently using a VM in Windows is the only way.

My apologies Joe.

I thought this was some new platform asides from CREATE.
I would have liked to sit in on the presentation but I have a hell of a schedule tomorrow.
Part of which involves an 80k ea way trip to get some pipe to put in a trench so I can get water to my workshop before the snow comes here in Northern Canada.

Will keep my eye out for the boards when the price drops to a better break point.
Its a good release date just before winter as from here on until around March April the forums seems to get a lot more action. (cabin fever maybe LOL).

Good luck with the pipe... I'm hoping to lay some myself this winter, I'm here in Arizona so it's just starting to get tolerable outside :slight_smile:
