Switching with Software

Hi! I've got a kinda stupid question. The Arduino can pulse electricity, but can it switch it? Without any extra hardware, like a relay or something, can you just connect two parts of a circuit. It's not much current or voltage that I'm working with. I just want something simple.

It can simulate switching the signal if the signal you're switching is 5 V...

You probably want one of these Mixed-signal and digital signal processing ICs | Analog Devices to be controlled by an Arduino.

Thanks for the info. I just decided that hardware is needed for something like this, so I just made a little transistor board that switches low voltages. It would be nice to do it straight from the Arduino, but oh well.
