Transmit Image Over LoRa

Hi everyone! I am looking to update a display connected to an arduino via the internet. I tried a standard wifi but the range was poor and the battery didn't last very long.

Because of mobility and power constraints, I want to to try again using LoRa. Cell would be interesting, but is probably too expensive to justify.

Is LoRa fast enough to transmit images or am I limited to something like BLE or WiFi? Are there any existing guides on how to do this?

LoRa transmissions are typically limited to a data rate of 100 to 37,500 bits per second, depending on the range.

Guideline: to estimate the time to transmit the image, divide your image size in bits by the data rate in bits/second.

Thank you! Are there any public guides on how to transfer files using a LoRa shield?

Have you tried Google?

The closest examples focused on transfering packets similar to the examples here: https://github.com/sandeepmistry/arduino-LoRa . I'll have to do more digging to figure out how to transfer full files.

Most people aren't interested in transmitting "full files" using Arduino, just data.

Display ?

Images ?

What do you mean ?

Resolutions ?

Amount of data in the image ?

You may know what you mean by an 'image' but my crystal ball is in for service, its been very overused recently.

Apologize for the confusion! I'm still piecing together my ideals for the project so it's a little raw.

The closest example would be to create something like this that updates a couple times a day via LoRa: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pryzzH_i0os (~1 minute).

So how many bytes will the image have ?
