Trying to press a key

Hi. Someone please help me before I smash my keyboard!
I don't code, I need to finish this project by tomorrow and have no idea what I'm doing.

I have wired up a button to a 1k resistor, everything hardware-wise is fine. But ALL I am trying to do, is make it so when I press the button, it enters the [ key on my computer. ] is fine as well, or ctrl.

-I am extremely incompetent apparently, so explain things to me like I'm 5
-ELEGOO Uno
-In a perfect world if someone could give me the code and full instructions on what the heck I should do, that would be amazing and I'll mail cookies to your house
-Do NOT ask me to install Flip. I have been struggling with Flip for a LONG time and I've already shorted like 3 things on my board, just don't. Anything but Flip. If it's not possible without Flip, I've got a glass of bleach waiting

Thanks!

Apparently all is not fine.
Where does the other switch connection go and where does the other end of the resistor go?

We don't give code. We help you get your code to work the way you want it to. Post what you have been testing with.

Maybe you don't code yourself but you must have an Arduino (which one?) and you must have loaded some code into it. So post that code for us to look at.

We like to help but at the moment you're providing no information to help with.

Steve

Elegoo UNO, according to the OP.

Hello 91j
Post your sketch, well formated, with comments and in so called code tags "</>" and schematic to see how we can help.
Have a nice day and enjoy coding in C++.

Uncle Grumpy says Daddy bought you the wrong board for this project. You need an Arduino Leonardo or MICRO.

Daddy says why are you asking the internet to do your homework for you? Daddy says this is called cheating.

It is not possible without Flip.

On a UNO.

At least Elegoo is actually a UNO, not to be confused with all the nonsense advertised as UNOs which are not UNOs at all. :grimacing:

How about you go get a Pro Micro?
