I have the UNO R3 with the Seeed Studio GPRS shield V2.

I'm using a SIM900 Debug program but I don't seem to get the right output.

Is what I get.

I do as the tutorial suggests, sending AT through the Serial monitor, and I'm supposed to get an output that tells me it's ready, but the random symbols are what I get instead.

You can't read Software Serial on the serial monitor. For the other one, make sure you have the settings right in the monitor: baud rate, COM port...
